Rivals Uber and Lyft are teaming up to fight a common enemy.

The state of California may soon require ride-sharing companies to reclassify their drivers as employees, not contract workers.

And Uber and Lyft don't want any part of that.

At issue is a law passed by the State Assembly in

late May called AB5. The bill would reclassify all kinds of gig workers as employees,
