Up first, a man who is no longer in contention for the sporting director role at U.S. soccer.

It's David Goss.

David, what do you think held you back from getting that gig?

I'm assuming you made it into the final round of interviews,

but what do you think really helped you back from getting the gig on a permanent basis?

I said mate as many times as I possibly could in the interview to establish my credentials.

It feels like it didn't land.

For me, it's not a pen.

But I guess that's not true.

So you tried to get the authentic Englishness in there just still that also had the American accent behind it?

It seemed like a fusion of the best of both worlds, you know?
