Another round of negotiations today as Mexico tries to avoid tariffs.

The country is offering up its military but the US wants more.

Remember, President Trump plans to hit Mexico with 5% tariffs on all

goods starting as soon as Monday. That's because he wants Mexico to help stop

people from coming into the US illegally. Mexico does not want to see those tariffs happen.

The Wall Street Journal says Mexican officials are pledging to send 6,000 National Guardsmen

to its border with Guatemala.

That's an entry point for a lot of Central American migrants as they make their way through Mexico and to the US.

But US officials are pushing for more.

They want to see changes to the asylum rules.

The New York Times says they want migrants to have to seek asylum in the first foreign country they

enter after leaving their homes.

For example, Guatemalan's would apply for asylum in Mexico rather than continuing on to

the U.S.
