Stocks fall across the board. I'm Henry App with the Marketplace Minute.

All US stock indexes closed lower today. The Dow was down half a percent.

The S&P 500 fell about a quarter percent. The NASDAQ declined at nearly two-tenths percent.

Federal Reserve Board members think it'll take longer than they initially expected for inflation

to reach the Central Bank's 2 percent target.

In minutes of the board's most recent meeting, which were released today,

members also expressed concern about the effect that higher prices are having on low-income households.

Sales of existing homes in the U.S. fell for the second straight month in April, according to the National Association of Realtors.

Sales dropped nearly 2% with declines in all regions of the country except for the West.

Mortgage rates over 7% put pressure on the market.

And the U.S. Trade Representative plans to put President Biden's new tariffs on some Chinese imports in place on August 1st.

That includes import fees on electric vehicles, batteries, and semiconductors

in a push to protect domestic industries.
