All right. Our breaking news continues on MS now. Earlier this morning, Eastern time, the United States and Israel launched a major military attack on Iran, striking dozens of targets across the country, including in the capital of Tehran. You can see the strikes on that screen.

They have been reported near the president's residence,

and extensive damage has also been reported at the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khomeini's compound.

Khomeini has not been seen this morning. However, he's not been seen publicly for weeks.

His current whereabouts are unknown. In an interview this morning with NBC News,

the foreign minister of Iran said, as far as he understands, all senior leadership in Iran is alive. Iran has begun what it has called a, quote,

crushing response against the U.S. and Israel. Iranian state media reports that retaliatory

missile strikes have targeted multiple U.S. bases are military bases in the region. Iran has launched

multiple major waves of missile and drone attacks at Israel, which the Israelis say have been

shot down. Iranian rockets have also been launched toward U.S. allies in the Persian Gulf.

In Saudi Arabia, in Jordan, one has landed in Syria. We're not quite sure whether it was targeted this.

You're looking at pictures of Dubai right now. This is the Fairmont Hotel in Dubai. Again,

something has hit that hotel. We're unclear, you can see the fire burning there. We're

unclear whether that was an actual missile strike or that was debris from a missile interception.

Dubai authorities have only said that there was a fire in the

Palm Jumera area. Local authorities say they've secured the area and the fire is now under control.

This is video from earlier. But reports indicate that a second wave of retaliatory attacks from

Iran could be underway across the Gulf. sources tell Reuters that oil companies are suspending shipments

through the volatile Strait of Hormuz on Iran's southern coast, where one-fifth of the

world's oil passes on its way to markets, and we now have confirmation that the Strait of Hormuz

is closed. There is no shipping, no oil shipping, or any shipping at all, going from the Persian

Gulf into the Gulf of Oman. Now, these attacks follow joint U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran last summer. Joining me now are my colleagues, Von Hilliard and Eamon Mohedin.
