Our breaking news continues on MS now. Early this morning, Eastern Time, the United States and

Israel launched a major military attack on Iran, striking dozens of targets across the country,

including in the capital of Tehran. Strikes have been reported near the president's residence.

Extensive damage has been

reported at Ayatollah Ali Khomeini's compound. The Ayatollah has not been seen publicly for weeks.

His current whereabouts are unknown, although there is some reporting that he is or has made

some recorded comments. Last hour, Iran's foreign minister addressed the situation.

Just for clarity for our audience right now, can you confirm with specificity that the Ayatollah Ali

Khomeini is alive and separately that the Iranian president is alive right now following these

American and Israeli strikes? As far as I know, the yes, are alive, and the head of judiciary as well, the head of the

Speaker of Parliament as well, all high-ranking officials are alive, and the Secretary of the

National Security Council. So everybody is now in its position, and we are handling this situation and everything is fine.

Might be a bit of an overstatement. Everything is fine. There were also at least four strikes

reportedly in Iraq, striking targets southwest of the capital of Baghdad in an area

associated with Qata Ibn Hezbollah. It's a member of Iran's axis of resistance and the most powerful

Iran-allied militia in Iraq. That's according to a news agency affiliated with Qatai-Hazbullah and Iranian

Allied militia in Iraq. Iran has begun what it is calling a, quote, crushing response

against the United States and Israel, promising not to, quote,

surrender to their despicable demands. And in a statement published by Iranian state media,

an Iranian military spokesman said that, quote, any base that helps America and Israel will be the

target of Iranian armed forces, end quote. Important point, because there are a lot of American bases and allied bases in the region.
