pair of hands of James Meadeway. James Meadeway economist extraordinaire used to work for

John McDonald now a regular contributor to Navara Media. Ever since Boris Johnson

narrowly survived his vote of no confidence, the cabinet have had one consistent message.

The best forward momentum is to look at the next two years, deliver from the shyest

to the towns to the suburbs and everywhere in between for the people of this country

and to look at the agenda we've got because that's what the country expects.

It's a good picture for the Prime Minister. He won comfortably and now he is getting on business

cabinet this morning. There's a lot to be done. That's why I'm trying as a cabinet minister

and someone supporting the Prime Minister to bring the party together so that we can focus

on a crucial mission of delivery. What we need to do now is come together as a government,

as a party and that is exactly what we can now do and what this gives us is the opportunity

to put behind us all the stuff that I know the media have properly wanted to focus on for a very

long time and to do our job, which is to focus on the stuff that I think the public actually want

us to be talking about, which is what we are doing to help the people of this country and all the

things we're doing to take this country forward. What are those issues and those policies that will

take the country forward? What plans, if any, do the Tories have? Well, since that vote of confidence,

the pressure has all been coming from one side. Tory MPs want tax cuts. Graham Brady, who chairs

the 1922 committee, told the Times, the best contribution a government can make to tackling

inflationary pressures on family budgets is to take less money off people in the first place

in the form of tax. I hope we will turn a corner soon and see the tax burden falling.
