It was two years ago today.

The United States withdrew from Afghanistan to know, in my lifetime, born in 70.

I was born into a nation that was grappling, that was grappling with Vietnam.

And you had a draft back there.

You had a draft back in that time, and that really changes, I think, a nation's connection

to a war.

Because the last time that was the case.

Because now everybody, at least every male, could be sent into war.

You're not an academic discussion anymore.

If you're in high school, you are coming to grips with the reality that you could be

going to war very soon.

Michael T's a senior, and I will tell you, it is heavy on my heart, and it is top of

mind.

A year from now, he won't be here.

We won't be doing this.

I mean, that's a heavy load.

For me, it's a heavy load for mama.

But to imagine, a year from now, he could be in Vietnam, crawling on his belly, agent

orange, booby traps, children with a bomb attached to a mask in for help, disease, destruction.

Wow, that's heavy.
