Studios in central London. I'm Tim Franks. We're beginning in the east of England, because

that's where on Saturday night

reports started coming in of a mass stabbing on board a train that was heading from

Doncaster in the north to London Kings Cross.

The train made an emergency stop at a station.

Police and paramedics were there within minutes.

Ten people were taken to hospital to remain in a life-threatening

condition. Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder. The police in an update this morning

said there is nothing to suggest at the moment that the mass stabbing was a terrorist incident.

Ollie Foster was one of the passengers on the 625 from Doncaster. This is what he had to tell the BBC. A guy suddenly run past going, run, run, there's a guy stabbing literally everyone at everything. At first, there was a few of us kind of looking at each other, like thinking, was it a joke, like it's Halloween, I'd be pranking. But then you could kind of see see in their faces they're being serious so I kind of got my stuff and I was running and everyone was

really pushing behind this really panicking and at this point I was kind of asking questions like

what's what's going on what's happening like who is it and they're like a guy's just stabbing everyone

back there and then I put my hand on this chair,

like just trying to push myself forward. And then I look at my hand and it's covered in blood. And then I look at the chair and there's blood all over the chair. And then I look ahead and there's blood all on the chairs. And I'm thinking, okay, this is pretty serious. So some of the guys that had run through to kind of alert to run,

they were the ones who had also being stabbed.

still trying to work out who is it, what's their intentions, what's their motives. So we ran to

the end of the carriage, we called the emergency alarm and just trying to work out and we barricaded

doors, can we lock the doors? Also on board the train was Steve, he didn't want to give us his surname, but he was travelling with his two children. We didn't see any of the incident actually happening, but we were on the train. A kind of a soft alarm went off, which I'd never heard before on the train. And then it said that, you know, an aid activation alum that has been activated in Coach Jay.
