0:16.4	We're in the Book of Proverbs on TMBT and today we're going to look at Proverbs chapter 9. Proverbs is part of what is called
0:20.7	the wisdom literature in the Bible.
0:23.0	Other wisdom books include Job, the Psalms, Ecclesiasties, and Song of Songs.
0:28.0	Before we dive into Proverbs 9, let's remind ourselves that being wise isn't the same thing as being smart.
0:34.4	You might have done well on the college entrance exams, you might have graduated the 4.0 from
0:38.8	an Ivy League college, and still be a fool.
0:42.4	And conversely, you might have never finished high school,
0:44.5	much less gone to college, you might be intellectually mediocre.
0:48.0	You might even have a learning disability,
0:50.0	and you can be wise.
0:52.0	Because wisdom isn't measured by degrees or grade point average.
0:55.4	It's not the same as knowledge.
0:57.4	Wisdom is how you live your life.
0:59.5	It's skilled, godly living.
1:02.1	You can get knowledge from Google, but you can't get wisdom there.
1:05.4	Proverbs says that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord. It's impossible to be truly
1:10.4	wise and reject God. God is the fountain of wisdom.
1:14.0	Deuteronomy 4 says that wisdom is keeping God's laws and commands.
1:18.0	The Book of Proverbs gets its name from the short pithy Proverbs that comprise chapters 10 to 31, but the first nine chapters lay
