I would call this shocking news.

David Montgomery has joined the Detroit Lions, which also means on the opposite side of that,

Jamal Williams will no longer be a member of the Detroit Lions.

One of last year's greatest story, 17 touchdowns for Jamal Williams,

and the massive cavity and void he's left on the Lions now totally goes to in my book,

and we'll talk through this, David Montgomery.

And the details speak to that, Hayden, a three-year deal worth

$18 million also saw somewhere else, $11 million guaranteed. And sure, when you see all this

money flying around for wide receivers, offensive tackles, defensive tackles, $11 million

doesn't sound like that much. But in free agency, it is.

In the last few years since 2020,

I believe only James Connor and Leonard Fournett

have gotten more total guaranteed money

on the running back free agent market.

I was going to bring up the James Connor contract.

That was a three-year $21 million contract

with $13 million guaranteed.

It's basically the same thing. Right when we saw that James Connor contract, we all called him a bell cow. And that's

going to be the debate with David Montgomery, just to put some other reference behind this. The

Jamal Williams contract with the Lions a couple years ago was two years for $6 million and $3 million guaranteed.

And he was still able to have a big role.

And this really just comes down to his skill sets in evaluation.
