0:18.4	B-virus international meeting. It's the international HBV meeting.
0:24.2	And I'm here with one of the participants, one of the speakers at the meeting, Thomas II,
0:30.9	from the Westmade Institute for Medical Research in Sydney. Did I get that right?
0:36.5	Oh, correct. Yeah. Right Where he's an associate professor.
0:39.8	And we're going to just have a little chat about his background and his interests and a little bit about hepatitis B virus.
0:51.2	So, Thomas, welcome.

0:54.7	Great. So let's start at the very beginning. You're a native Australian, is that right?
1:02.4	Indeed. Okay. And how did you get interested in science and in general and HBV in particular. Yeah, so I come from a migrant
1:14.8	family, so my parents were always pushing me to be a doctor or lawyer or something like that.
1:21.1	So I chose doctor, but the thing is my high school grades weren't good enough.
1:27.8	So I got into biomedical science, hoping that, you know,
1:33.1	I could maybe move into medicine later.
1:37.3	But by second year, I thought, oh, why not to stay in this?
1:43.1	Because actually, when I was 15,
1:46.5	I was actually diagnosed with hepatitis B myself
1:49.5	and found out that the University of Adelaide,
1:55.5	where I was doing my studies,
