controversial kidnapping case and the unsolved murder of a young girl named

Number one, 43 missing Mexican students.

On September 26, 2014, about 100 students from a rural teaching college and a Yatsanapa clashed with

local police in the city of Iguala, Guerrero, Mexico.

Rocks were thrown and shots were fired and after the clash

43 students were taken in by local police but after that the story gets very

bizarre. Initially the students were said to have been traveling via bus and were headed to Mexico City to celebrate the anniversary of the 1968

Lata Loco massacre.

Reports say chaos erupted because the students were said to have started hijacking the buses,

but student union representatives said the kids were actually hitchhiking and getting rides on the buses when police clash with them.

A chase began and authorities opened

fire. A separate bus carrying a local soccer team was mistaken as one of the

buses containing the students and they were shot at. During the chase and shoot out a bus driver, a

woman riding a taxi and one soccer player were killed. The next day one student's

corps was also positively identified.
