Hey friends, welcome back. Genesis chapter 31 in our Bible today. We are with Jacob. We're in Syria, but God has told him to leave.

Things have gone from bad. Jacob is kind of in a tussle with his father-in-law. They're both

not the most trustworthy of people, but God's doing a work in Jacob's life. And Laban is, he's in a bad place. He's looking at

Jacob with suspicion. He is looking at Jacob through the eyes of greed and envy. His own sons have not

helped the situation. And God has come to Jacob and said, Jacob, I want you to leave.

Now, God is working, and God obviously was going to lead Jacob back at some point anyway,

because he has to go back to that land of promise.

Jacob has had the conversation with his wives.

They're in with him.

They're ready to leave.

And that's where we are in verse number 17.

So Genesis 31,

verse 17, Jacob rose up and set his sons and his wives upon camels. So remember,

Jacob now has a growing family. He has two wives, two in essence concubines. He has 11 sons and one daughter. He will only have one more

child ever in life, and that will be Benjamin, who will be born not too much longer, but not

here in Bethlehem. And the Bible says in verse number 18, and he carried away all his cattle,
