Appreciate being here. A few celebrity birthdays before we get to the news.

Lady Gaga has 37 today. Julia Stiles is 42. Vince Vaughn is 53.

And Reba McIntyre is 68 years old today. And speaking of birthdays in music history,

exactly 20 years ago, this was the number one song in the country into club by Fittiesson.

All right. Okay. I always start the show with the top story. And today it's something that

essentially happened in my backyard, the covenant school here in Nashville literally about

two miles from where I'm standing right now. I was the scene of a tragedy yesterday. The

28 year old assailant took multiple guns into this school and opened fire.

In the end, three students, three adults lost their lives. The shooter ultimately died as well,

killed by police. This was a targeted attack. This was a laborately planned.

There's a lot of confusion about this, but it seems the shooter who is a former student of the

school was born a woman and identified as a man. A lot of outlets were getting that wrong yesterday.

Evelyn Dykhaus, Haley Scruggs, William Kinney, Cynthia Peake, Catherine Coons, and Mike

Kill, those are the six that lost their lives. Those kids are all nine years old.

We hear a lot of stories about these things all the time and we start to become desensitized to

them. But this one for me, I mean, really sorry to make it personal, but it's the closest that a

tragedy like this has ever hit home for me. I drive by that school every day. My son's school is

not far from coming in and it was locked down yesterday, which is a pretty scary phone call to get.
