A popular stretch of Highway 2 between the city of Skyicomish and Stevens Pass will reopen this Sunday.

Noel Gaska has more.

Historic flooding washed away and damaged sections of the highway between Skycomish and Leavenworth earlier this month.

Governor Bob Ferguson says repair crews have been working seven days a week to clear debris and fix roads.

On Monday, they got good news from an inspection report about a bridge at mile post 54 west of Stevens Pass.

The bridge is, all things considered, in very good shape.

It will need some work, want to be clear, but that work can wait.

The bridge is structurally sound. It is going to be available for traffic. 20 miles of the highway between

Stevens Pass and Cole's Corner opened on Monday. Ferguson says the full restoration of Highway

2 could take until March. The total cost for repairs is still being determined.
