Look at that car. But Jesus had an entirely different perspective. Let's find out what that was today. Welcome to

Hey, guys, welcome back. We are still in Matthew Chapter 19 today. In fact, we're still in the story of the rich young ruler.

He's walked away, but Jesus has some teaching to add to this really

kind of confusing situation, confusing to the disciples because they have some questions as well.

So look at Matthew chapter 19 and, well, let's just pick it back up in verse 22 to bring us back into the context.

It says, but when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful for he had great

possessions. So remember, he was looking for a way to work his way toward inheritance or toward eternal life.

And Jesus was highlighting that he was not really a lawkeeper, just as he thought he was.

And there were things that were holding him back, that he was unwilling to give up in that sense. And he walked away very sorrowful.

And Jesus makes this statement. Jesus said unto his disciples, verily, I say unto you that a rich man

shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. So we look at riches in our society,

in our culture, as a sign of prosperity, or a sign of success, or a sign of favor, a sign of

God's blessing. In fact, there's a whole movement called the Health, Wealth, and Prosperity

Gospel that essentially teaches that unless you are healthy, unless you have good things and a good

salary and nice stuff, then you're really not being blessed of God, which is just a ridiculous

notion, just even a cursory knowledge of the Bible will show you that's

not true. But in many ways, riches can be a detriment. Certainly the love of riches is the root of all
