New Zealand lawmakers are set to vote on lowering the national voting age to 16.

This comes after a Supreme Court decision that keeping the voting

age at 18, as it currently stands, amounts to age discrimination. In New Zealand, there are

existing protections against age discrimination, which begin at 16. So part of the court case was

bringing up that voting should be included in those protections.

Parliament will now vote on the matter which will require a 75% supermajority,
