I'm happy and sad. I'm your host, Andy up downs. I am happy to be with you today.

If what you know of Advent involves counting down the Christmas with a calendar where you get a piece of chocolate every day, I respect that.

I'm here for count downs with candy.

But let me catch you up on why this season matters so deeply to me. Advent actually begins about four Sundays before Christmas.

And it marks the time on the calendar when the church slows down to look forward to the coming of Jesus to celebrate when he came to earth on that first Christmas.

And look forward to his promise return. And as we wait, there are gifts we get to discover and during Advent we're spending time on the podcast each weekday, focusing on the gifts of hope and peace and joy and love each represented by a different Advent candle.
