Hello and welcome to Coffee House Shots and Spectators' Daily Politics Podcast. I'm Katie Balls

and I'm joined by Kate Andrews and Charles Grant, director of the Centre for European

Reform. Now there are two big stories in town as we kick off the week. One is Kirstarmer's

trip to Brussels. Tonight he will have dinner with various EU leaders attending a part at least of

the EU summit. That is a first for a leader since leaving the EU. Then secondly,

you have Donald Trump and what he is doing on tariffs. And speaking to the BBC, Donald Trump was

asked about tariffs to the EU and tariffs to the UK. And here's what he had to say.

It will definitely happen with the European Union. I can tell you that, because they've really taken advantage of us.

And, you know, we have over $300 billion deficit.

They don't take our cars, they don't take our farm product, they take almost nothing.

And we take everything from them, millions of cars, tremendous amounts of food and farm product. So the

UK is way out of line and we'll see the UK, but European Union is really out of line.

UK is out of line, but I'm sure that one, I think that one can be worked out. But the European Union

is, it's an atrocity.

So, Kate, before we get to what the Labor government is trying to achieve,
