But first, the big idea.

In a wide-ranging interview that aired Sunday night on 60 minutes, President Trump promised

that Saudi Arabia will face severe punishment if they're found to be responsible for killing Washington

Post columnist Jamal Koshogi. As he told CBS's Leslie Stahl... There's a lot at stake

and maybe especially so because this man was a reporter.

There's something you'll be surprised to hear me say that.

There's something really terrible and disgusting about that if that were the case.

So we're going to have to see.

We're going to get to the bottom of it

and there will be severe punishment.

Still, Trump noted that the Saudis deny wrongdoing

and maintained his opposition to canceling arm sales to the country.

He said such a response would be very foolish because it would hurt US defense contractors.
