0:16.4	Central Park in 1989. They've been exonerated. They've been paid tens of millions of
0:21.4	dollars by New York because they were browbeated and abused into coerced
0:26.3	confessions.
0:27.6	They eventually were convicted.
0:29.0	They served many, many years in jail.
0:31.4	And Donald Trump is personally responsible for most of what happened
0:34.6	to the Central Park Five, the exonerated Five now, because he continued to
0:39.2	stoke the flames of hatred against them at a critical moment in New York when New York was a
0:44.5	tender box of racial strife in 1989. I was in New York at NYU in college. I
0:50.4	remember these times well and I remember what happened in Central Park.
0:54.5	Now Donald Trump can't give it up.
0:56.6	He's like a dog with a perverse bone.
0:59.0	He won't give up the fact that he attacked and defame them back in 1989 when he ran full-page
1:05.3	ads that he paid for in the New York Times that cost him over $80,000 for full-page
1:10.5	ads calling for the death penalty and execution of these teenagers.
1:16.1	And every year since, including during his campaign in 2016, all the way up to the debate that
1:21.2	happened in September with Kamala Harris, he has said those five
1:26.4	individuals, those five former teenagers, now adult men, were guilty and that they should
1:31.8	not have been exonerated, they should not have been settled with the state,
1:34.6	and that there was enough evidence to convict them.
1:37.8	What I think was the final straw for the exonerated five who also appeared.
