Good evening, America.

Eleven months ago, I inherited a mess and I'm fixing it.

Last night, President Donald Trump delivered a prime time address to the nation from the White House,

and it began by taking aim at a familiar target, his predecessor Joe Biden.

When I took office, inflation was the worst in 48 years, and some would say in the history

of our country, which caused prices to be higher than ever before, making life unaffordable

for millions and millions of Americans.

This happened during a Democrat administration, and it's when we first began hearing the

word affordability.

Just for the record, inflation was around 3% when he took office in January, which is far

from the worst in history.

Trump's speech focused on the issue of affordability, and he celebrated his economic

achievements, like his tariff policy.

Many of the talking points were not new, although what was perhaps unusual was the speed

and tightly scripted nature of the 20-minute address.

It remains to be seen whether the speech will have any effect on his polling.
