And we begin the programme in Minneapolis, where today there was a distinct change in tone from President Trump's so-called border czar, Tom Homan.

He's taken over immigration and customs or ice agents in the city following days of anger, protests and the removal of controversial border chief Greg Bovino,

after comments he made about the killing of protester Alex Preti on Saturday.

At a press conference today, Mr. Homan acknowledged that mistakes had been made by federal

immigration agents and he said he was committed to improving operations in Minnesota.

Nothing's ever perfect. Anything to be improved on. And what we've been working on is making

this operation safer, more efficient by the book. The mission is going to improve

because of the changes we're making it internally. Well, Tom Homan went on to say that he was

prepared to scale back operations if local

authorities worked with them. This is common sense cooperation that allows to draw down

on the number of people we have here. Yes, I said it, draw down the number of people here.

Because we have the efficiency and safety of the jails in the

prison matter of fact i have staff from cvp and from lies working on a drawled down plan what does

that look like based on the cooperation what does that look like based on how many targets we have

less to find well in the past few hours, senators have blocked a bill that would have kept

the U.S. federal government funded setting up a potential federal shutdown. Shortly before the

vote, President Trump said he was confident a shutdown could be avoided. I think we're going to
