President Donald Trump said he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the phone for 75 minutes

today. On truth social, Trump said it was, quote, a good conversation, but not a conversation

that would lead to immediate peace.

This comes after Ukraine's drone attack on Russian airfields over the weekend hit 41 Russian military aircraft,

including strategic bombers and surveillance planes.

The president says Putin told him that he'll respond to Ukraine's recent attack.

Trump said they also talked about Iran as he works to complete a nuclear agreement with Tehran,

and that Putin would likely join the discussions.

As of today, U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum doubled to 50%.

It's a move steelmakers in Pittsburgh and the Trump administration celebrates.

But as CNN Zane Asher explains, economists warn it could cost consumers and strain key trade relationships.

You think about the fact that imports from Canada, from Mexico, from Brazil, from South Korea,

all of that grinds to a standstill.

When you think about the reasons why the Trump administration

is doing this, of course it makes sense to try to protect US steel.

You know, they now have effectively eliminated competition,

they can raise their prices freely.

But on the other hand, you think about the fact that price increases

for consumers that is going to go into effect as well.
