Tonight it is my honor and privilege to announce that I will nominate Judge Brett Kavanaugh

to the United States Supreme Court. President Trump nominated federal Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court on Monday night,

a move that elevates a conservative stalwart with deep ties to the Republican establishment to succeed

retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy. Kavanaugh is 53 years old. He lives in the

Maryland suburbs of Washington, serves on the US Court of Appeals for the DC

Circuit, and worked in top jobs in George W. serves on the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit

and worked in top jobs in George W Bush's White House

before moving to the federal bench.

He served as a clerk to Kennedy in the early 1990s
