The Amazon now, the company, has raised prices by 3.5%.

Now, I'm not sure exactly how this works.

This is from Brad Reed over in Common Dreams.

Amazon announced on Thursday the beginning April 17th.

They would add a 3.5% fuel and logistics-related

surcharge to vendors who use its fulfillment by Amazon service in the U.S. and Canada.

Now, whether that's 3.5% being added to the delivery charge or whether that's 3.5% being

added to the cost of the product.

I'm not certain, and I read the article twice looking for an explanation.

It does go on to say that Tara Hoops, the director of economic analysis at the Chamber of Progress,

said that Amazon surcharge is, quote, yet another example of more increased costs to come

and the ongoing supply shock caused by Trump's

illegal war in Iran. Amazon is not alone in doing this, according to the New York Times. Fresh food

distributors across the U.S. are now adding surcharges for deliveries. Groceries stores, restaurants,

this is a quote from the New York Times, grocery stores, restaurants, hospitals, even schools are most likely seeing costs for their food shipping climb.

The CEO of the Independent Grocers Alliance, John Ross, told the New York Times that the surge in diesel fuel costs

has come at a particularly bad time for Americans who are stretched thin financially.

He said for people who spend every nickel they have on daily expenses, if grocery prices go up $5, that $5 has to come from something else.

But it's hard for the groceries to eat it also.
