That's Attorney General Pam Bondi, answering questions about whether the Trump administration would expand its legal authority to deploy troops amid anti-ice protests in Los Angeles.

So far, President Donald Trump has stopped short of invoking the rarely used 19th century

insurrection act, which would allow him to use military forces to end an insurrection or

rebellion on U.S. soil.

Currently, the National Guard and the Marines aren't actually allowed to conduct civilian law

enforcement.

So unless Trump invokes the act, the Guard is restricted to protecting federal property

and personnel. But today, Bondi suggested that step hasn't been ruled out.

We're going to do everything within our legal authority to protect our law enforcement officers

and all the people in California right now.
