Genesis chapter 25, verses 7 through 11.

Abraham lived 175 years.

Then Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age.

An old man and full of years, and he was gathered to his people.

His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Macpila near Mamry, in the field

of Ephron's son of Zohar the Hittite, the field Abraham had bought from the Hittites.

There Abraham was buried with his wife Sarah. After Abraham's

death, God blessed his son Isaac, who then lived near Birlai-La-Hai-Roi. True satisfaction

today.

My fellow laid off co-workers and I were asked to write our retirement speeches.

Huh?

We were looking for work and far from retirement age.

But the facilitator revealed the purpose of the activity by saying,

Your speech will probably have little to do with your work. She explained to us that a job really isn't the center of our lives, and while we may be grieving the loss of a job, our lives mean much more than being employed.

The details about the end of Abraham's life remind me of this lesson.
