Hello everybody and welcome to True Crime Time for Friday, August 15th, 2025, and I am Cindy Overton. And I'm writing solo today

0:26.9

as Woody has, as he says, boots on the ground. And we could not find time to record an episode

0:37.2

together.

0:38.5

So I was either going to release an old episode of real life for crime content,

0:47.1

or I asked Woody, if he minded, if I come on here and do a mini episode of a few stories that are very important. And the first one is

1:01.7

truly the most important story that we need to talk about. But, oh, and I'm your host, Cindy

1:09.0

Overton. I am the wife of Woody Overton. And I'm actually

1:14.8

recording this on Thursday. And happy birthday, happy 24th birthday to our son, L.A. And I'm so very

1:26.0

proud of him. And, well, let's get started.

1:30.8

So I have really just a heartbreaking story.

1:37.6

Literally, I'm holding my phone to get the information for the story, and I'm shaking.

1:43.0

Y'all know I'm an emotional person,

1:45.1

but I saw the videos that went along with this story,

1:51.1

and I am, you know, it's very emotional.

1:56.7

2:08.6

He was a 23-year veteran of the Baton Rouge Police Department, and his life was tragically cut short. On Sunday, August 10th of 2025,

2:21.6

Sergeant Isworth passed away at a Baton Rouge hospital after a 49-day battle with injuries sustained

2:32.5

in a deliberate attack. He had been struck by a truck while riding his

2:37.8

motorcycle. He was a motorcycle police officer. And he was on Jure Road. This act, this intentional

2:46.8

homicide, ultimately after 49 days cost Sergeant his life. So for more than two decades,

3:00.6

Sergeant Isworth wore the badge that, you know, many, many people do.

3:09.1

And what this badge represents is unwavering dedication.
