Commercial ships came under attack Sunday by drones and missiles in the Red Sea, and a U.S.

warship there opened fire in self-defense as part of an hours-long assault claimed by Yemen's

Houthi rebels. The attack potentially marked a major escalation in a series of maritime attacks

in the Mideast,

linked to the Israel-Hamas War as multiple vessels found themselves in the crosshairs of a single

Houthi assault for the first time in the conflict. The Defense Department told the Associated

Press they're aware of reports regarding attacks on the USS Carney and commercial vessels in the

Red Sea. The Carney is an Arlie Burke-class guided missile destroyer.

It's already shot down multiple rockets the Houthis of fire toward Israel so far in the war.

It wasn't damaged in the attack and no injuries were reported on board.

Five Republican senators led by Marco Rubio on Friday asked President Joe Biden's administration to

ban travel between the United States and China after a spike in Chinese respiratory illness cases.

Quote, we should immediately restrict travel between the United States and China until we know more

about the dangers posed by this new illness.

The letter signed by Rubio,

the top Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee, along with Senators J.D. Vance,

Rick Scott, Tommy Tuberville, and Mike Braun. Apparently, nobody learned any lessons from
