We're going to have a little lesson here today because there's a lot of people who are

quite confused having read what Trevor Bauer is alleging. He is suing the athletic that

amazing site where if you don't subscribe, you're missing out on very important articles,

not just in baseball, but in all sports. Certainly baseball with Jason Stark, Ken Rosenthal,

teams are represented. You've got business stories that are written about. They have podcasts,

etc. It's called the athletic. You should subscribe. There is a writer there named Molly Knight,

and Trevor Bauer decided that he was going to file a lawsuit against the athletic and

Molly Knight alleging defamation. There are two types of defamation. One is a libel, or

two is a slander. It's like a defamatory statement is made. People say, you've defamed me.

Libel, just to be clear, is when you write an article. In the article, you say something,

and you read it and you say, my God, that's totally wrong. You can't write that about me.

I'm going to sue you. That's libel. You're suing for libel. Then you're telling a joke,

you're in a comedy club, and you say something, you say a bit. It's a bit, let's say, or

something. And you say, I'm suing you, that's not true. Don't you tell a joke saying that

I'm five foot four? That's a lie. I'm five foot five. You're defaming me. That's called

slander. Libel's written slander spoken. That's how to remember it. SS slander spoken
