Welcome to this weekend's episode of Cruise Radio Rewind. My name is Doug Parker. Happy to have you here, my friend.

Cruise Radio weekend, this is your first time listening. It's a show that is a catch-all from our Thursday show, Cruise Radio, where if we don't get to answer a question or if more news pops up, we'll tackle it right here on Cruise Radio Rewind.

Now that we have cruise lines giving us return-to-service dates and actually ships that are sailing on that date, I thought it would be a good time to bring on Dan Skokin from Tripinsurance.com

0:37.9

because the landscape is definitely changing when it comes to travel insurance policies,

0:44.3

and that doesn't matter if you buy it from the cruise line or from a third-party company.

0:48.8

So Dan's here to talk to us about how everything is changing and to take a couple of your calls

0:53.5

and also have a voice memo. By the way, if you want to send a voice memo or an email, you can do that at Doug at cruiseradio.net. Hey, Dan. Hey, Doug. Hey, man, how's everything going? You hanging in there? We are. We're doing our best. All of our staff are are sheltered in place, so they're all working out of their house, and we're dealing with about 150 to 200 emails a day.

1:28.1

we can't keep up with all the customer inquiries and all the support questions.

1:32.3

So the cruise lines are starting a phased in approach when it comes to returning to service.

1:37.3

Carnival already said they're going to start with eight ships in August.

1:40.6

How has the landscape in the travel insurance space changed since the pandemic? Are we seeing

1:46.4

coverage being revised or limited? I think that we are. With the issue that's happening right now is

1:52.8

that some of the insurance companies are adding a limit for pandemic coverage. They are

1:59.1

excluding COVID-19 as a known problem right now. And so they're

2:05.6

excluding that as something that they're not going to cover. But a lot of the companies haven't

2:13.0

done that yet, and I'm glad. Neither U.S. fire nor Nationwide on our site have added any kind of restrictions

2:19.8

for corona coverage. Okay, so what if I book a cruise? I buy a policy and then it changes a month

2:27.1

from now and my cruise is a year from now. Do I, am I still locked in under that original plan?

2:32.2

Doug, it's an excellent question. When you purchase the policy, they're going to issue a certificate of coverage to you.
