today's devotional. Hey, what's up everybody? Thanks for joining us on the daily drive. Some of you

actually might be driving right now. So thanks for tuning in, or you might

just be waking up, or you're hitting the gym, or you're taking a walk, or doing a spin class,

or you're getting ready for bed, wherever you are. Man, it's so grateful for you and honored that

you would give a few minutes today to listen and hopefully draw closer to the one that loves you

with an unfailing love.

We're currently in chapter 3 of a little letter called Colossians,

and we left off last time with the challenge to practice this countercultural,

counterintuitive thing called mutual submission.

The writer of this letter, Paul, talked about how that plays out in a family with husbands and wives and parents and kids, modeling the humility of Jesus. And then at verse 22, he takes this idea

to the workplace. Now, before I read verse 22, I want to say that Paul, when he writes this,

is not endorsing slavery, as we have known it in our ugly history.

And some people through the years have perverted scriptures like this to rationalize their own

prideful and honestly very evil agenda. It is heartbreaking the way some have justified their

quest for power and superiority by picking and choosing verses that are out of context

with the character of God.
