0:53.2	Callopapa Trail Tail question mark. Hi Cassie and Danielle, I'm loving the show. I sent a message
0:58.8	after listening to episode 69 and in it, I mentioned that I did a variety of field work for the
1:03.8	park service, Fish and Wildlife and the Department of Conservation in New Zealand that involved extensive
1:09.2	time in the backcountry and that I'd also try to send in some trail tails. I had some of our
1:14.2	listeners are so cool. I know, like, and you're talking to me, that's cool. Like, you're really cool.
1:21.7	Well, right now I'm sitting on a six hour layover in Newark, while flying from Oregon to Edinburgh,
1:27.5	and I'm listening to the episode on Callopapa. One of my jobs with the park service included
1:32.4	during a survey for the Hawaiian or a baths, which also happened to take me to Callopapa for a
1:38.4	couple months. So they just keep getting cooler. Just wait. Yeah. When I was there, there was only
1:43.6	about 13 patients remaining and I had to get permission from the patient's council and the CDC
1:49.2	along with the park service in order to be able to live in the historic park even for that short
1:54.4	amount of time. Access to the park has always been restricted to day trips as part of a tour group
1:59.5	for the general public. So to be able to stay in the park is a real rarity. So rare that they even put
2:04.8	up posters of me around town so people would know who the stranger was and why it was there. Imagine
2:10.8	it's just like, hi, it's me. Like, don't be alarmed. Right. Yeah. The place itself now does seem like
2:17.5	a paradise, but I understand that wasn't always the case. The peninsula is about two miles long
