0:00.0	Hey everybody. This is Ryan Mallory with shareplanner.com swing trade in the stock market.
0:04.0	And today's episode, we're going to talk about stock splits. There's a lot of misconceptions
0:08.1	as it pertains to stock splits. And today's email comes from a guy that has written the show
0:13.9	numerous times in the past, always provides good questions. And so I'm always excited about
0:17.3	taking his questions for this podcast. He's always gone by the name Buck because I don't use people's real names.
0:23.5	I don't use their real identities.
0:24.5	So I always give them usually a Florida redneck name or a Southern name, something that has a little pizzazz to it.
0:31.6	So in this case, we've just always called this guy Buck.
0:34.6	Buck writes, hey Ryan, I would like to know your take on Ford
0:39.8	Stock Splits. And 2022, I bought Amazon before their stock split with visions of holding them long term
0:46.2	and accumulating massive gains. Well, the entire market began selling off and post-split,
0:51.7	Amazon dipped to about $60 per share. I became scared that I had
0:56.5	made a bad investment and sold for a loss, completely abandoning my long-term mindset.
1:03.8	Fast forward to today, and I would have been up quite a bit. Earlier this year, when Walmart
1:08.8	announced a stock split, I thought that maybe I should
1:12.2	play it safe and buy it after the split in case the stock dipped. Walmart split to about
1:18.7	$55 and never dipped. Now it's hovering close to $100. Chipotle had a similar reaction,
1:25.3	but to a lesser extent. One thing I think I can conclude here is that it comes down to market conditions. Are we in a bull market or a bear market? And a bull market, it doesn't really matter when you buy. And in a bear market, it might be better to wait. What do you think? Tractor supply recently announced a five to one stock split. I think it would be a great dividend growth
1:46.1	stock to hold long term. But now I'm in the mindset of wondering if I should buy pre or post
1:51.8	split. Considering we're currently in a bull market, it probably doesn't matter. Now, I know that whatever
1:57.3	I decide, I'm buying for the long term and I'm not touching it for at least 10 years.
