Summary

Jeff Thomas is an award-winning filmmaker, a once-sponsored skier, and a guy who was born to be a baseball player. While he can still throw the ball at 85 mph, the day Jeffy's dad showed him the brochure to high North Ski Camp in the late '90s, Jeff's life went from boring baseball to the epicenter of the new school of skiing. At camp, he met his heroes, athletes, and his biggest inspiration, filmmaker Johnny Decesare —all of whom would become the forefathers of the sport and the lifestyle the twin tip movement bred. On the podcast, we chat about his Hall of Fame pedigree, Theory 3 media, Poor Boyz Productions, Teddy Knape, Switchback Entertainment, and more. Nerdy About Nature's Ross Reid asks the Inappropriate Questions

Welcome to the Powell Movement.

0:17.1

I'm your host Mike Powell,

0:18.5

and this week I'm happy to tell you that I've filled my final

0:21.8

sponsor slot with a brand that I've never even approached for advertising.

0:26.4

Liquid Force is my favorite wakeboard company.

0:28.9

I've had their boards, their wake skates, and their life jackets.

0:32.0

That's all I've ever used because one of my best friends in Seattle, Ben Wallace, his older

0:36.6

brother is Don Wallace, a legend in the

0:38.7

liquid force world and the world of wakeboarding. But back when I first moved out to Seattle,

0:44.0

Ben and another good friend of mine, Mike Goot, bought a boat together, Gladys. And that's where I learned

0:48.8

to wakeboard, to wake skate, and learned all about the Liquid Force brand. Back then, when I thought

0:53.9

of Liquid Force, they were the armada of skis at that time.

0:57.1

They were pushing the envelope of progression.

0:58.9

They had the sickest team, the graphics are cool.

1:01.6

They had events like Wakestock.

1:03.0

They had their finger on the pulse of what was cool and fun.

1:05.8

But they weren't acting like they were too cool for school, which are the brands that I like,

1:09.2

the brands that just do it and live that way. And that's how Liquid Force was, and they still are. Where am I going with this? Well, I'm talking

1:15.6

about my last ad spot. So I went to the WSM show recently to look for a sponsor to fill that

1:21.1

last ad slot. Since then, I've had a few meetings with people. And while I think I have a great fit for a brand in the fall, which is the ad I was selling, I didn't have anything for the summer, and that was okay with me.
