Summary

Kaitlyn Farrington grew up on a cattle ranch in Bellevue, Idaho. Life growing up was all about hard work, rodeoing, and, if there was fresh snow, skipping school to head to her home mountain of Sun Valley.  Eventually, she switched from skiing to snowboarding, earned a scholarship for the Sun Valley Team, and things happened quickly. She went from being nobody to the World Cup to being named to the stacked US Team in a matter of years- she was always the underdog. But, in her biggest moment, she rode away with Olympic gold…and an injury took it all away. On the podcast, we talk about ranch life, making the US Team at 17, becoming a privateer, winning, a new reality, becoming an astronaut, and more.

Holy crap.

The season is not only sucked, but it's flying by.

We're finally getting some snow in the Pacific Northwest, and Women's Month is finally here.

0:28.6

And I'll tell you, I've been waiting for March for months. Not that I care about months that are targeted at specific people,

0:35.3

but when I was putting together my calendar back in like October, I stumbled upon March

0:39.9

and I saw that someone had decided to make March all about women.

0:43.7

When I read that, I was like, shit, I'm going to get in on this.

0:47.5

And I'll be honest, my coverage of women in action sports, while my podcast I feel does a better

0:52.5

job than most with over 60 women's episodes,

0:55.4

could be a lot better and I know I can do a lot better. So I stack some interviews and all month

1:00.4

long I'm going to be telling the stories of some of the most important women in skiing and

1:04.4

snowboarding. I'm really excited to get these episodes out and my first woman of March is an

1:09.7

Olympic gold medalist and an aspiring

1:12.1

astronaut. That's right, Caitlin Farrington has been so many things in her life, a ranch hand,

1:17.9

a rodeo competitor, a dirtbag snowboarder, a 4-Her, and the one thing that really defines her is being

1:23.7

an Olympic gold medalist. But Caitlin didn't have an easy route to Olympic gold. Between the

1:28.6

long days of working on the ranch and having to sell cattle to fund her dreams, hard work was

1:33.3

something that Caitlin grew up with, and that work ethic helped make her dreams come true.
