Peter Line is the visionary snowboarding icon who helped start the “Rider Owned” movement in snowboarding.  When Peter wasn’t busy creating the best team of snowboarders in the history of the sport-The Forum 8- He was creating tricks, the Backside Rodeo, that would completely change the sport.  Still a player in the sport today, Peter now spends his time out of the spotlight, designing clothing for Dakine, board graphics and pursuing his other artistic passions.

Welcome to the fucking Powell Movement, the place where people talk shit.

Welcome to the Powell Movement. I'm your host, Mike Powell, and this week on the program,

0:17.6

we have a visionary and icon, a legend in the snowboard industry. His name is

0:22.4

Peter Line. He stands all of about five feet four, and he brings a whole lot to snowboarding,

0:28.5

and he has for over 20 years. Peter's one of those guys that came into snowboarding for the love of

0:33.4

snowboarding. There wasn't much going on before him. There was Craig Kelly and the generation

0:37.6

of snowboarders before Peter. And Peter really looked up to those guys. He grew up in the Northwest,

0:42.8

and he was into snowboarding. That was his thing. He didn't really participate in any other sports.

0:47.9

And almost overnight, Peter blew up in the snowboard world. He was riding for a few years,

0:52.8

got noticed by a couple brands,

0:54.7

and eventually was put into a position where he was able to start his own brands. He started

0:59.7

for him. He started Foursquare and didn't have to do it with his own capital, had people that

1:05.1

believed in him, and let him run these brands. And Peter really did some amazing things with

1:09.6

snowboarding. He got so big.

1:11.6

It was crazy. And I find it interesting today. When you think of Peter Line, you would think of

1:16.4

someone who's retired in a multi-million dollar house and he's enjoying life that way. But that didn't

1:21.9

happen for Peter. The snowboard dream took him around the world, but it didn't make him rich.

1:26.9

And now in life, Peter is still

1:28.4

part of the grind of snowboarding. He's designing clothing for DeKine. He's also working on board

1:33.5

graphics. He's also an artist, and he has his hand in a lot of things. And socially, it's easiest

1:38.6

to talk to Peter if you already know him, or if you're a cigarette smoker, because he definitely

1:42.3

talks to people in that circle from
