There's this age-old argument that men have had, and it goes something like this, like,

who would win in a fight between, and it would go something like the best boxer in the world

versus the best wrestler in the world, or who would win in a fight between Bruce Lee and Chuck

Norris? And the argument is just endless and it inspired all kinds of things,

like video games from the 80s and 90s, like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter.

Basically every John Claude Van Dam movie was inspired by that idea,

but it really all got put to bed, to be honest with you. In 1993, when UFC 1 happened in

Denver, Colorado. It was an eight-man tournament, and every man in the tournament represented a

different martial art. So you had everything from karate to kickboxers, to traditional boxers, to

even a sumo wrestler

was in the tournament. But there was also this little known martial art named Brazilian

Jiu-Jitsu that really nobody had heard of at the time that was represented by this young

170-pound Ken doll-looking man named Hoys Gracie.

Hoise Gracey entered this tournament, not just with the weight of his family and his family name,

but the entire martial art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on his shoulders as he entered the tournament.

It was something called representative warfare.

terrifying. And so it shocked everybody when hoist won, not one, not two, but three fights in the same evening, winning the tournament

and defeating none other than Ken Shamrock by choking him out. It was the ultimate David and
