Good evening from New York. I'm Chris Hayes. Republicans have been trying to cut or even

eliminate public broadcasting in this country since its inception. In fact, as PBS itself

reports, quote, every Republican administration, except Gerald Forz, has tried to cut public media funding.

All the way back in 1969, during the Nixon administration, Mr. Rogers himself was forced to head

to Capitol Hill and defend funding for public broadcasting, which Congress wanted to reduce from

$20 million to $10 million.

I'm very much concerned, as I know you are, about what's being delivered to our children in this country.
