I'm John Bachelors, welcoming Devonunus, 22 California in the San Joaquin Valley, the bread and fruit basket of the solar system,

to comment on the drought over all the west over California.

It is called the Millennium Drought.

It's been with us two decades now, and the damage to the aquifer and the water systems of the west is profound.

You only need to glance at a picture of Lake Mead for the Hoover Dam to see how low the water level is,

and also the fact that they are starting, rationing water restrictions on the Colorado River.

The larger story, however, comes down to water management and the San Joaquin Valley,

which we depend upon for fruit, our food, and the San Joaquin Valley depends upon water to generate the jobs that are necessary to give us the water.

The San Joaquin Valley story is not about the drought.

I've learned this from the congressman over some years, and here we have it again.

Devon, a very good evening to you.

Again, explain.

Your aquifer is subsiding.

The water management issues are real for the whole of the west.

There is a drought.

You do need rain.

And yet, why is it that the farmers and the ranchers of the San Joaquin Valley do not have what they need to raise their crops and manage their herds?
