Summary

Here to rewild us and reconnect us to that which is most essential is barefoot ultra running phenom Tony Riddle. Returning for his 2nd appearance on the podcast (his first being over 3 years ago on episode #463), Tony is a natural lifestyle coach who has devoted his life to studying what makes us human and how to live naturally in the modern world. Today we pick things up where we last left off in an old school, no video, audio-only conversation convened during my recent visit to London that goes deeper into Tony's natural lifestyle practices. Tony and I cover his various endurance feats and training, his unique coaching philosophy, and the principles that underscore his new book Be More Human, a bible for deconstructing the ways of living that aren’t serving us, and reconnecting with new ways of living that are more in sync with our human biology. In the lyrics of my friend Nick Mulvey,

half he is the man that breathes in the morning.

0:32.0

So it could be right, I just sit and I just do some breath work in bed even.

0:37.0

Just open my eyes, instead of going, right, there's my phone and checking it

0:40.0

and just checking with yourself, just breathe for a moment.

Down regulations start calm. It's the everyday stuff.

0:46.0

It's the environment stuff. What can you take control of in your everyday habitat?

0:49.0

In your everyday environment. Because otherwise all that work is just,

0:52.0

it's literally symptomally, and you really need to get to the cause a bit.

0:55.0

Because we might be going on running the cause or cycling on the bikes the cause.

0:58.0

I would say it's the stuff that you've been doing for 10 or 5 days a day that isn't natural.

1:03.0

Then you go and try and run with and try and cycle with.

That then compromise is that chain.
