Okay, welcome to the Eric Mataxas show. Eric is in disposal at the moment. I'm afraid he's been having GI problems in uncomfortable bloating, but I'm sure he'll be out in a jiff. Oh, here he is now. Looking pale and shaken. Oh, you okay little buddy? The Eric Mataxas show. Hey, thanks for sharing Todd. You're fired. Folks, there are times...

In life when you can't help but get excited. I'm sitting here in the studio. If you have Mataxas super, you can watch us on the camera and you already know why I'm excited and why my upper lip is sweating after the fashion of President Richard Nixon. Why? Because I'm sitting in the studio with Tony Dungee and his wife Lauren. I'm not talking to them on the phone. They're here in New York. Welcome to the program. Thank you very much. Thanks. It's just great to be here. Now, you guys are not just here to visit. You

have written some books here. And I've got to ask you this like the dumb question you asked before you say anything about first of all, if people are tuning in and they don't know who Tony Dungee is, they're probably communists who are, you know, they're not part of this country. But I just want to say to those people, you are just a legend in the NFL coach with the Colts and on and on and on. And a lot of people just know you from watching TV because you're commentated and stuff. But the question is why?

1:30.1

Would you team up with your wife Lauren, who's here to write children's books at this point? What was the idea behind these books? And there are two books. First one says Austin, place fair and the other one is Maria finds courage. And I can hold them up for the camera.

1:46.6

Anyways, so people can see them. But where'd you get this idea? This is counterintuitive coach Dungee.

1:51.4

Well, it isn't a way, but actually we've written several were on a series now. This will be a series of eight books under the heading team Dungee.

2:01.4

But it really started when I was coaching the Buckeneers and Lauren and a lot of the otherwise would go on Tuesdays. That was kind of their community service day. And they'd go into elementary schools and read books.

2:13.6

And Lauren said really having a tough time finding good books to read that were funny and creative, but also had a lesson. They wanted to read something that had a life lesson.

2:24.4

A book that had diversity of characters so they could read it at all schools and had the kids kind of say, hey, I can relate to that. So it was a struggle. And that's when we started formulating the idea that this might be a good idea.

2:38.6

So this was your idea.

2:40.8

Was my idea, but Tony walked alongside me and together was collaborative effort. We started writing children's books.

2:49.2

You don't have to be so nice.

2:51.4

You have to just, you know, no, but you're seeing what a cool, what a cool idea because I mean, it's a funny thing. I think that the reason I get excited about this is that it is a fact that there is a

3:02.4

dearth of good books with lessons and things or it's all political correct nonsense. And you think, look, we can enough of this. We're tired. Don't you have anything? You know, I mean, that's one of the reasons I love

3:13.3

edutails. I mean, something positive that teaches kids basic stuff. The fact is there isn't a lot of that stuff. But the fact that you were able to figure that out and then say, oh, by the way, I could do something about it.

3:24.7

Well, just working with children and spending time with them. We realized that there was that boy that that we needed to have good books with diverse characters. And so we were able to do that.

3:37.1

And we have some great characters in the story because we use our own children and they're included. And we thought that the stories should be fun. They should be entertaining, but the reader should walk away with a lesson.

3:51.1

And we think we accomplished that in our stories.

3:54.3

Well, and because of the Dunji name, you guys people will trust this. It's kind of funny, right? Isn't that the way life works? Is that you trust brands or you trust people? And you say, whatever that person is doing, I'm just I'm in.

4:08.9

It would say, you know, you've built up a lot of goodwill over the years, coach Dunji. It would take it. You'd have to work hard to blow.

4:15.2

We have to work hard. We have to write horrible books in a row to blow the brand. You know what I'm saying? But what's okay? So what are some of the values that that are in the books?

4:26.0

Well, the first thing is we kind of built it around a team concept. So Lauren and I are coaches of these different sports teams.
