Good evening. Tonight on the show I speak with my colleague Jean Marks, a small business columnist

for a number of distinguished publications. About the state of the economy in the United States,

the Federal Reserve says no recession. Federal Reserve does not meet again till September,

to adjust the interest rates in order to cool inflation, which may be cooling right now, however.

Jean brings forward a couple of facts that are difficult to explain if we're booming or growing

or okay. One is a sharp decline, profound decline, catastrophe,

decline in sales of RVs, recreation vehicles, 49% decline. America not feeling confident.

It's been hundreds of thousands of dollars on a dream machine and drive back and forth across

America. Also a statistic. Right now what we have from the economy is a growth story from the

Atlanta Federal Reserve, saying more than four point, more than four percent growth in the

third quarter. And yet small businessmen, when pulled, small business people, when pulled,

believed the future is not bright and their costs are even gloomy and pessimistic.

Jean asks them why and the explanation is cost, i.e. inflation. So there's a mixed picture

about the future. Federal Reserve says no recession. Small business, say, be careful. I also speak with

Josh Rogan, the Washington Post, about his conversation with Chris Christie, former governor of

New Jersey who just returned from Keefe where he visited with President Zelensky. Chris Christie
