I’m sure you’ve heard the old Jewish adage directed to God, “If we’re the Chosen People, choose someone else!” So we ask the question, “what’s so special about Israel? Why did God choose the Jewish people to bring salvation to the world through Jesus? And why is Jerusalem this special place favored by God? Just yesterday we were accused of being anti-Semitic for suggesting the Tribulation Period is all about Israel. Yet the Bible indicates that one day, perhaps very soon, Israel will be surrounded by the armies of the world, facing complete annihilation at Armageddon. Are the people living in Israel today God’s Chosen People? Or just imposters as some people claim? Gary and Pastor Tom Hughes answer the tough question, “Why Israel?”

0:39.7	Always great to see you. We're going to talk about Israel. In fact, let me just hold up a DVD set here.
0:46.1	This is five DVDs, and it talks about Israel with a big question. Why Israel? And there are a number of why Israel
0:57.6	questions. There are a lot of people, Tom, in the world today, who are anti-Israel, sadly.
1:05.3	In fact, there is almost a mindset against Israel. A lot of people think, well, Israel won't be around long.
1:12.6	There certainly a tiny little nation over there. They can't last hostility all around them and so forth.
1:19.6	Yeah. So let's start talking about why Israel. And let's talk about Israel and the Bible and the church.
1:29.9	Well, I think it's a great subject.
1:31.9	It's a subject that's close to my heart, and I know it's close to yours also.

1:35.8	And Gary, I firmly believe that in order to understand Bible prophecy, not just Bible prophecy,
1:43.0	but to really have a good handle on the New Testament
1:46.1	and the teachings of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Apostle Paul. And that even on into
1:51.0	the book of Revelation, you must have a good understanding of the nation of Israel. I don't believe
1:56.6	you have to understand every ceremonial law that took place in the temple, but to have a good
2:03.4	understanding of that is not bad, but to have an understanding of this one thing, because this is
2:08.9	what it all comes down to you, is that God had a covenant with Abram. Before it changed his name to
2:14.2	Abraham, he made the covenant, or said I'm going to make this covenant. You read about it in Genesis
2:18.6	chapter 12. You fast forward Genesis chapter 12, chapter 13, all the way through to chapter 17. And you
