Hey there, folks. Welcome to the Eric Metaxis show. It's a show. I talk to people. For example, today, I have the privilege, and it is a real privilege, to speak with somebody from Voice of the Martyrs.

Voice of the Martyrs, unfortunately, refers to people being martyred in our time, persecuted, murdered for their faith.

It was begun by Richard Wormbrand. If you know of him, you know everything you need to know about

voice of the martyrs. Richard Wormbrandt was, well, he wrote a book called Tortured for Christ.

I recommend it very highly.

I'm sure you can get it through Voice of the Martyrs.

But right now we get to speak to Todd Nettleton with Voice of the Martyrs today.

It's good to be with you.

Good to be with you. I had the privilege, I think I told you the last time you were on,

of meeting Richard Wormbrond and Sabina Wormbrond.

I guess this would have been in the mid or early 90s, the mid-90s, I think.

If you don't mind, tell my audience who are unfamiliar with the voice of the martyrs what it is

and who Richard Vermbrandt was a little bit.

Well, Richard Wernbrand and his wife, Sabina, were both persecuted Christians in communist Romania.

Richard would spend 14 years in prison. Sabina three years herself, including

many months in a labor camp, helping to build the Danube Canal. And they were in prison for

being Christians, for being a part of the underground church there. And Richard and Sabina were

actually ransomed out of Romania. At that time, the communist government was selling prisoners. They were selling prisoners for a ransom. And so Richard and Sabina were ransomed out. They came to the West and began to talk about their experiences in prison, but also more importantly to talk about the pastors and the Christians

who were still in those communist prisons.
