The first Herbie film released in 1969 is notable for being the final live-action film produced

under the supervision of Walt Disney himself prior to his death.

The feature proved to be a critical and financial success for Walt Disney productions.

In fact, at the time of its release, all Herbie was the second highest-grossing film for

the company, second only to Mary Poppins.
