1:10.5 | because individuals mainly rely on over-the-counter medications. Struggling with bowel movements is |
1:17.7 | more common in women and in older adults, and I have a predominantly female patient population, |
1:25.7 | and so I see this problem frequently. Conventional medicine defines constipation as three |
1:34.4 | or fewer bowel movements per week for over three months. Someone who has normal functioning |
1:41.6 | bowel should have a bowel movement two to three times a day, or at least once a day, but two to |
1:46.5 | three times a day would be normal. Why is it so important to empty your bowels on a regular basis? |
1:53.5 | Because toxins that are in the solid waste will be reabsorbed into the body if the stool is |
1:59.9 | sitting in the colon for long periods of time. In addition to trapping toxins in our colon, |
2:06.6 | there is direct physical harm from being chronically constipated, including hemorrhoids, anal |
2:12.8 | fishers, rectal prolapse, and something called mega colon, which is the abnormal dilation of the |
2:20.3 | colon. Conventional medicine approach is to treat the constipation versus address the underlying |
