And this week on the podcast I have with me, Dr. Keith Evans. He's associate professor of Christian

counseling at Reform Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina. Previously, he was

professor of biblical counseling, director of the Biblical Counseling Institute, and academic dean

at Reform Presbyterian Theological

Seminary in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Prior to becoming a professor at seminary in 2018, Keith

pastored in Lafayette, Indiana for seven years. He's married to Melissa, and they have four

daughters. He earned his Ph.D. in biblical counseling at the Southern Baptist Theological

Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

Keith, is so wonderful to have you on the podcast today and talking about a subject that I think is

absolutely critical, brother. So thanks for joining me today for this discussion.

Well, this particular topic, honestly, is one that we see is impacting the biblical counseling movement

in a variety of different ways. Really, historically, not just in our contemporary context,

but historically, this has been a constant discussion way back in the days from Jay Adams and

John Bettler asking the question, what can we include relative to extra-biblical material from outside the Bible,

and how do we think through this? And so now that conversation has been updated in many ways

from general revelation to now thinking about common grace and all these different ideas.
